Melissa is a Florida native, a nurse with over 20 years of healthcare experience, and a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), who has dedicated her career to supporting seniors and their families. Throughout her work in the community, Melissa witnessed to many seniors spending the holidays alone, with little family nearby and no one to celebrate with.
Determined to change this, Melissa founded the Silver Tree Project in 2024 to ensure that no senior feels forgotten during what should be the most joyful time of year. She personally leads every aspect of the project — coordinating volunteers, selecting thoughtful gifts, and reaching out to local seniors who need a little extra warmth and kindness during the holidays.
Melissa’s passion for elder care and her deep roots in the local community drive her mission to grow Silver Tree Project each year, so that even more seniors can experience the joy of being remembered and loved.

The Silver Tree Project exists to bring joy, gifts, and companionship to local seniors who might otherwise face the holiday season alone. Many older adults in our community experience isolation — but with your support, we ensure they are remembered, valued, and loved.

Founded in November 2024, our goal was to visit and provide gifts for 50 seniors in our first year. Thanks to overwhelming community support, we were able to reach and gift over 120 local seniors.

Your donation helps provide thoughtful gifts, essential items, and uplifting visits for seniors in our community. Together, we can make the holiday season brighter for those who need it most.
Every dollar makes a difference — thank you for your generosity!
